Break It Down Brown

JaMarr’s Story

In October of 1997, I sat across from my manager as he said words I’ll never forget:

“JaMarr, I think you’re burned out and not cut out for sales.”

At the time, I was three years into what should’ve been a dream job in pharmaceutical sales—but I was failing. I was ranked 93 out of 98 salespeople at Allergan Pharmaceuticals, after being 123 out of 125 the year before. I had survived layoffs, but just barely. I was burned out, frustrated, in denial, and on the brink of losing it all.

But something changed.

One year later—same territory, same products, same competition—I finished #1 out of 98 and became the youngest Salesperson of the Year in the company’s history.

That turning point launched a career I never could’ve imagined. I went on to:

  • Lead a sales team from second-to-last to #1 in the nation, with every member finishing in the top 20%
  • Became one of five Regional Sales Directors at Allergan Pharmaceuticals by the age of 30
  • Recruited to be the National Sales Director and VP of Sales at major biotech and pharmaceutical companies
  • Created the training strategy and curriculum corporate  for sales forces and 7 product launches
  • Led the marketing initiatives for several major pharmaceutical and biotech brands
  • Authored three books, two audio programs, and develop a proven training system called Selling In Color
  • Speak to and coach thousands of professionals across sales, leadership, and business

At my lowest point, I went on a journey of self-discovery and professional growth—and what I learned changed everything. Today, it’s my mission to share those lessons and help others unlock their true potential, create meaningful success, and find fulfillment in their work and lives.

If you’re ready to discover your purpose, elevate your performance, and rewrite your sales story, I’d love to help you get there.

The Impression Triangle:
First Step of the Sales Process

In my “Selling In Color Sales and Communication Training System,” I discuss the idea that the first part of the sales process should be Impression Management. This includes really outlining the impression you want your customers and prospects to have of A.) Your company, B) Your Products / Services and C.) You as the individual sales person or business owner: which is often the most overlooked impression. During this mini-training I did at a Chamber of Commerce meeting, I talk about the importance o the Impression Triangle.

The Kaizen Way

The Kaizen Way is more than a philosophy—it’s a lifestyle for anyone committed to becoming their best. Built on three powerful principles, it starts with the relentless pursuit of excellence—defining your personal and professional WHY and showing up for it every single day. Next, it’s about eliminating anything that holds you back—the wasteful thoughts, habits, and distractions that pull you off course. And finally, it’s about continuous improvement—making small, intentional changes that compound into extraordinary results. Every day, ask yourself one question:

“Am I better today than I was yesterday?”
If the answer is yes, you’re on the right path. This is the Kaizen Way.
